The 2022 European IOI Conference and General Assembly
Sounio – Greece | May 26 and 27 2022

“Ombudsman reloaded:
mandate and operational framework in a post-modern era”

The President of the European Board of the International Ombudsman Institute and Greek Ombudsman, Andreas Pottakis, has the pleasure of inviting you to the 2022 European IOI Conference and General Assembly in Sounio, near Athens. The General Assembly will take place on Thursday May 26 followed by a visit at the ancient temple of Poseidon for enjoying a magical sunset and a reception. The Conference with the theme “Ombudsman reloaded: mandate and operational framework in a post-modern era” will take place on Friday May 27.

We are making the necessary preparations for having a hybrid event (mixing live in-person and virtual online sessions) while we still hope that the circumstances will finally allow us to enjoy it with the actual presence of all of us.

The meeting of the Board of Directors of IOI Europe will take place on Wednesday May 25.

Information regarding the events and your participation will be constantly uploaded on this page so make sure visit it regularly. Should you require further information or clarifications feel free to contact us at ioieurope[at]synigoros[dot]gr and for organisational issues at ioieurope2022[at]eplo[dot]int

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Sounio and having a fruitful cooperation there!

Sounio, on the south-eastern tip of Attica, combines history with a landscape of natural beauty and feels like an island. About an hour drive from the city centre of Athens and a short drive from the Athens airport, Sounio captivates visitors with its ancient temple of Poseidon (built at the same time as the Parthenon, during Athens’ Golden Age), its sea view and the nearby beaches. The temple, overlooking the cape, offers a breathtaking view to the sunset.
