As part of the international shipping exhibition Posidonia 2026, the Eugenides Foundation is organizing a high-level thematic event dedicated to the major transformations currently shaping the future of shipping and maritime education.
The event takes place during the Foundation’s 70th anniversary year, marking seven decades of continuous contribution to education, shipping, and the professional training of the country’s youth. Since its establishment, the Foundation has remained committed to its public-benefit mission: promoting knowledge, cultivating skills, and preparing the next generation for the challenges of tomorrow.
Entitled “Skilling and Upskilling the NextGen Seafarers: Eugenides Foundation Advances into the International Education Ecosystem,” the event highlights the critical importance of enhancing the skills of seafarers in an environment of rapid technological, environmental, and regulatory change.
The discussion will focus on:
- The integration of the modern needs of the shipping industry into educational curricula.
- The digital transformation of maritime education through the use of interactive tools and simulation technologies.
- Strengthening the connection between education and real-world operational conditions in the maritime sector.
- The development of new international partnerships that expand the maritime education ecosystem.
At a time when artificial intelligence, automation, and the green transition are redefining the maritime industry, the need for continuous education and skills adaptation for seafarers is becoming essential for the sustainability and competitiveness of global shipping.
