The 1st Sustainability Marketing Training Workshop in Athens is an opportunity for Hoteliers and Communication Managers to share experiences and examples of marketing, and to prepare action plans for making inexpensive changes in organisations. 

Many businesses in Greece already protect your environment and create meaningful jobs, purchase locally and promote the sense of place of where you belong. This is what makes you who you are. These same businesses and associations they belong to try to promote sustainability to these businesses and to consumers, but often fail to achieve the results they expected. It is time to learn how to communicate this in a way that makes sense to your customers- the key is how.

We will work together to learn how you can better market and communicate what makes you different, by focusing on how it makes your customer’s experience more complete. We will brainstorm realistic ideas you can adapt, relevant to the decisions your customers need to take that will help reassure them you are the right company for their needs. Without idealism, jargon and save the planet messages.

9:00      How to save money (Ask nicely; Be trustworthy; Be honest; Be humorous; Be engaging)

9:45      How to attract more customers (Be unique; Be seen; Be found; Be remembered; Be shared)

10:30    Coffee Break

11:00    How to improve your customer satisfaction (Make them feel good; Use appealing language; Tell customers what’s in it for them; Make it easy for them; Help them take decisions)

11:45    How to increase your customer expenditure (Make them feel special; Give them things to do; Improve the experience; Package services)

12:15    How to increase your customer loyalty and reduce seasonality (Make them aware; Weather proof your offer; Add a calendar; Give them reasons to return)

13:00    Lunch 

13:40    One to one meetings, with invitation (optional, aprox. 20 min each)

15:00    Workshop end


This training Workshop is organized and delivered by GREEN EVOLUTION SA and it will be held in English.

The registration fees for this Training Workshop are:

  • 80€ per person
  • 50€ per person (GSTC Member or GSTC Training Course Attendant)
  • 40€ per person (Student, maximum 5 participants)


What's Included

As part of your registration, you will have receive the workshop material electronicaly; coffee break; lunch break; a Certificate of Attendance will be sent electronically.



The Workshop registration does not include travel to/from and within Athens or accommodations.

 Trainer: Professor Xavier Font

Dr Xavier Font is professor of sustainability marketing at the University of Surrey. He specialises in helping small firms to gain competitive advantage from using sustainable tourism as a tool for product development, marketing and communications.  Xavier has run this course in the UK and overseas over 100 times for 2,000, accommodation and activity suppliers, tour operators, national parks and government agencies.
