The 12th Congress of GAIA EPICHEIREIN continues a well established institution of public dialogue on the Greek primary and agri food sector, this time focusing on one of the most critical challenges of our time: generational renewal in agriculture, combined with innovation and the transition towards a sustainable and competitive production model.
The Congress will take place on Friday, 12 June, in Xanthi, Greece; a region with a strong agricultural identity and particular significance for the country’s regional development.
At a time when both the European and Greek agricultural sectors are called upon to respond to structural changes, demographic shifts, climate challenges and technological developments, the 12th Congress of GAIA EPICHEIREIN aims to highlight policies, tools and practices that can make agriculture more attractive to younger generations, leveraging innovation as a key driver of growth.
The Congress will focus on:
- the role of young farmers in the transition of Greek agriculture;
- lessons learned from the 2023–2027 CAP period and the priorities for the next programming period;
- the importance of technology for unlocking sustainability and competitiveness in agriculture;
- success stories of young farmers, from theory to practice.
Through thematic sessions and targeted interventions, institutional representatives, scientists, entrepreneurs, agri food value chain stakeholders and sector professionals from Greece and the European Union will share experiences, proposals and best practices that link innovation with the renewal of human capital in rural areas.
The 12th Congress of GAIA EPICHEIREIN aspires to become a reference point for the development of policies and practical solutions, strengthening dialogue and cooperation among all stakeholders, with the common goal of a sustainable, modern and resilient future for Greek agriculture.
The 12th Congress on the Development of Greek Agriculture is held with the support of the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission, within the framework of the information actions project on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) “CAP4Youth”, and under the auspices of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
