The 9th edition of the Panhellenic Congress for the Development of Greek Agriculture organized by GAIA EPICHEIREIN, the annual meeting point for the primary and wider agri-food sector of Greece, will take place on Monday July 17, 2023.

In the first year of implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2023-2027 and in the face of the great challenges and opportunities of the era of the European Green Deal, this year's Congress, focusing on "Greek agriculture towards 2030: achieving sustainability with the support of the CAP", aspires to focus on the great demands of strengthening the sustainability and resilience of European and Greek agriculture in the face of the great challenges of climate change, geopolitical upheavals but also the need to produce more (and better) with less through the green and digital transition of the production processes.

The 2030 milestone is particularly important in this direction, as it is the year to achieve the targets set by the 'farm to fork' and 'biodiversity' strategies, but also the EU's climate target to reduce EU emissions by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels. Legislations serving these ambitious goals, some of which have already been launched, are expected to be gradually integrated into national CAP strategic plans, radically changing the productive profile of European and Greek agriculture.

With the participation of prominent representatives from the political scene, experts as well as business operators of the agri-food sector from Greece and abroad, the 9th Congress aspires to fuel the discussions upon the current global, EU and national climate-related challenges affecting the agricultural sector, the relevant tools of CAP, as well as national strategic options and best practices from Greece and other EU Member States.

The 9th Congress is organized in the context of the Information Measure CAP4Clima, implemented by GAIA EPICHEIREIN and supported by Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission.
