Kyoto Tours, Golf & Wellbeing Activities

The full day Inclusive Tours on Saturday and wellbeing activities are INCLUDED as part of your Conference registration fee, however, booking is still required. Please add to your booking by selecting the appropriate number of tickets you/your group require.

If selected, the costs for the OMNI Golf Tournament and Optional Tour will be added to your fees when registering.

Tour and golf places are limited and will be allocated on a 'first come first served' basis. For tours to go ahead minimum numbers are required, organisers reserve the right to amend the programme.

Getting to Kyoto

Travelling from FIDI | OMNI will be providing a transfer from Swissotel Nankai Osaka on Thursday 14 May. Further details will be provided closer to the event.

Flying In | OMNI will be providing transfers from both Kansai and Itami airports on Thursday 14 May.

Fri 15 May \| Fushimi Inari Taisha & Sake Brewery Description + - Fushimi Inari Taisha and Sake Brewery Friday 15 May \| 13:30hrs - 17:15hrs A short journey from The Thousand lies the ancient Fushimi Inari Taisha (Shinto Shrine), home to over 10,000 red torii gates, which form a trail to be explored up into the mountain behind the temple. On your travels spot the many Fox statues, thought to be Inari’s messengers, pay your respects to the local deity or make your own wish with an ema or Omikuji (fortune-telling paper). After visiting the shrine, explore the centuries old art of sake brewing at the Sasaki Sake Brewery, the only sake brewery that still exists in Rakuchu, the centre of Kyoto. Founded in 1897 Sasaki Sake Brewery continues to adhere to the “Rakuchu tradition” philosophy of inheriting the tradition of sake brewing in Rakuchu from generation to generation and passing it on to future generations. Sat 16 May \| Golden Pavilion & Arashiyama Description + - Golden Pavilion & Arashiyama Discovery 09:45hrs - 17:45hrs A chance to explore Japan’s former imperial capital and it’s World Heritage Sites. The main focus of this tour is the striking Kinkakuji and the Arashiyama district. Kinkakuji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, was originally built as a retirement villa for the Shogun, that he requested be converted into a Buddhist temple after his death. Together with the pond, it is one of Japan’s most famous landmarks. Arashiyama is a popular tourist district in the western outskirts of Kyoto famous for its bamboo grove. After lunch at the Shigetsu vegetarian restaurant, a part of the Tenryu-ji Temple, and where the chefs will only prepare dishes that observe the rules of traditional Buddhist vegetarian cooking, take time to amble through the bamboo and enjoy a rickshaw ride as you discover Arashiyama.
Sat 16 May \| Kyoto World Heritage Sites & Samurai Experience Description + - Kyoto World Heritage Sites & Samurai Experience 09:30hrs - 17:30hrs This tour also starts out at the Golden Pavilion but from there you head to Nijo Castle, the stunning former residence of the Kyoto shogun, with it’s ‘chirping’ nightingale floors. Its palace buildings are arguably the best surviving examples of castle palace architecture of Japan's feudal era, and the castle was designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 1994. Following lunch at the popular kaiseki (traditional Japanese cuisine of small dishes) restaurant Ganko Takasegawa Nijo-en the tour heads into Kyoto’s imperial past at Heian Shrine, a majestic oasis of vermilion halls and tranquil gardens built to honour the city’s thousand-year legacy as Japan’s ancient capital. The day ends with your very own Samurai Learning Experience.
Sat 16 May \| Nara Park Description + - Nara Park Day Trip 09:15hrs - 17:15hrs Nara was Japan’s capital in the 8th century and many of the temples and shrines built at that time still remain. First, you will head to Todaiji Temple, the world’s largest wooden building and the home to Japan’s largest bronze Buddha statue. Another place of worship is Kasuga Taisha, Nara's most celebrated shrine. You will also have a chance to walk through Nara Park, home to hundreds of freely roaming deer. Considered in Shinto to be messengers of the gods, Nara's nearly 1,200 deer have become a symbol of the city and have been designated a national treasure. Lunch is at the classical restaurant Kikusuiro founded in 1891 and offering an authentic lunch experience.

The OMNI golf tournament is taking place at the same time as the INCLUSIVE TOURS. The golf fee has been subsidised to take this into account. Please book the required number of places for Golf and any hire clubs from the available options.

Saturday evening will be spent at leisure, and we are pleased to be offering a complimentary coach to Pontocho Alley. This historic, narrow lane in Kyoto is famous for its traditional wooden buildings, atmospheric restaurants, and vibrant nightlife! Located parallel to the Kamo River, it comes alive at night with glowing lanterns, attracting visitors for dining and entertainment. You can find everything from traditional kaiseki meals to casual yakitori joints!
