Delegate Fees and AfSMA Membership

Conference rates are based on the World Bank income classification of each delegate’s country of residence. If you are unsure which category applies to you, please consult the World Bank country classifications.

Members of AfSMA and other recognised social marketing associations are eligible for a 10% discount. Please contact your association’s membership representative or log in to its members’ area to obtain the promotional code required when booking.

We are offering a half-day taining workshop ahead of the main conference, 09:00hrs - 12:00hrs on 10 November 2026.

General admission: $35.00

WORKSHOP DETAILS: Designing Behaviour Change for the Environment
with Diogo Veríssimo

Abstract This session introduces participants to the use of behavioural science to address biodiversity conservation challenges. Moving beyond traditional approaches focused primarily on raising awareness, participants will learn how to identify the specific human behaviours contributing to environmental problems, understand what drives or prevents these behaviours, and design more effective interventions. Using real-world examples from species conservation and environmental management, the workshop will introduce practical frameworks such as COM-B and guide participants through the process of developing a behaviour change intervention. Participants are encouraged to bring their own conservation challenges and apply the tools during the workshop

Participants could learn to:

• Distinguish awareness, attitudes, intentions and actual behaviour.
• Diagnose why environmentally harmful behaviours persist.

• Design interventions that go beyond information provision.
