Standards & Traceability. Tech for Nerds, Marketing Trend or a Safety Necessity? | Event by GS1 Association of Greece

General Admission - FREE Registrations period has ended.

International trends record that consumers make their purchasing choices by evaluating the information available for the product they are buying. Therefore, retailers and manufacturers try to meet this need to satisfy their customers, which often comes as a legal requirement.

GS1 Association Greece has identified the growing need of the Greek market for the management of traceability data in the supply chain, so that it can be communicated to consumers with digital technologies through an integrated and interoperable process, providing immediate access to information, even in the case of a recall.

GS1 Association Greece, as the sole representative of the global non-profit organization GS1 for Greece, will present how GS1 standards can act as a common denominator to meet supply chain needs, using technologies and solutions that enable:

  • trading partners to share event data information on the physical movements and status of products across the supply chain, from the manufacturer to the end consumer, by applying the EPCIS standard
  • Exchange and synchronization of Master Data between trading partners using the global GDSN platform
  • access to the international platform Global Registry, which is expected to be a worldwide product catalog
  • and automated data collection through past but still effective technologies, such as the most widely used barcode.

The aim is for Greek companies to provide quality data in the modern digital age, with a standardized approach but at the same time flexible to serve the needs of their partners and consumers, while trading within Greece or exporting.
