Panel discussion with Kristin Baird, Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist in Maryland, U.S.A., Lori Wiener, Co-Director of the Behavioral Health Core, and Director of the Psychosocial Support and Research Program at the Pediatric Oncology Branch of the Center for Cancer Research at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institute of Health in U.S.A., Dimitris Dikeos, Professor of Psychiatry at the Athens University Medical School and Eginition Hospital and Alexandros Spyridonidis, Professor of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation and Director of the Bone Marrow and Transplantation Unit at the Patras University Medical School and Hospital in Greece. The keynote speech will be given by Michelle Riba, Professor and Associate Chair at the Department of Psychiatry and Depression Center and Director of PsychoOncology at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Care.

The newly registered nonprofit organization PAMEMMAZI organizes its first annual forum Psychosomatic Care in Cancer: Empathy, Understanding and Communication on October 20th & 21st 2017.

 The forum will be hosted by the American College of Greece, at Pierce College Theater,  6 Gravias street, Aghia Paraskevi, Athens, Greece.

Our goal is to promote the importance of empathy at all levels of health care and the need of a patient centered holistic approach with respect to patients’ choices. We are focusing in adolescents and young adults, in the communication of patients and their families with the health professionals and in the assessment and management of cancer and its therapeutic regimen psychiatric and psychological side effects.
