A few words about Angelos Spachis:

Self-taught Angelos Spachis began his career in 1922. Without having traveled abroad or attended any systematic painting studies, thanks solely to his personal explorations, he had managed to embrace the principles of contemporary art, particularly of Cubism and Constructivism/Neoplasticism. During the interwar period, Spachis was among the most innovative Greek artists.

After World War II, he distanced himself from painting and turned exclusively to the applied arts, especially advertising, poster creation and interior decoration, where he also blazed new trails by adopting and promoting the aesthetics of Bauhaus in Greece. Spachis is considered the father of Greek graphic design, as he was the first to have taken it up systematically.

Exhibition Curators: Alexandros Papageorgiou-Venetas, N. P. Paissios, Konstantina Dakolia, Athena Kyriakodi.
