In December, the Members’ Film Club is discussing the film The Ice Storm by Academy Award winning director Ang Lee. The film outlines the dysfunctionality and social taboos of an entire period, and Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver, Christina Ricci and Tobey Maguire are experimenting sexually and emotionally in search of pleasure and meaning in their lives.
Summary:
Connecticut, 1973. It is Thanksgiving weekend when the storm breaks out. An upper-class family finds out that, behind the seeming prosperity of everyday life, lies the menacing monster of loneliness. A film that reflects on the barrenness of the ’70s and the existential crisis in families of that time.
