SNFCC Members | Off the Premises: Exploring urban gardens and their history

Mediterranean Garden in Paiania & Vorres Museum Garden

On Saturday, September 13, SNFCC Members will have the opportunity to explore three different Mediterranean gardens in Paiania, guided by botanist Lefteris Dariotis. During the tour, participants will compare the three gardens and discuss the factors, as well as the technical and aesthetic criteria, that shape their inspiration, creation, and care.

At a time when access to green spaces is shrinking, visiting gardens in the capital provides an occasion for awareness and reconnection with nature. Gardens offer a protected, alternative environment within the social fabric, bringing humans in contact with nature, architectural design, science, culture and art, and constituting a breath of fresh air and civilization in the heart of the modern-day city.

The cycle Exploring Urban Gardens and Their History includes a full program of off-the-premises guided tours and workshops in gardens of Attica, and will be concluded with a festive tour of Stavros Niarchos Park.

A private bus transfer to the garden has been arranged for the event. For environmental reasons and for optimal planning, its use is recommended. For your participation in the tour, it is advised to bring a hat, sunscreen, and water.
