Two festive tours around the Christmas World of the SNFCC, exclusively for Members and their guest, guided by the SNFCC Director of Programming and Production, Ms. Gabriella Triantafyllis.

For the sixth year in a row, four striking light installations by leading foreign creators, plus one Greek entry that was selected for the first time through an open call, are presented at Stavros Niarchos Park, unfolding the magic of the SNFCC Christmas World. This year, our winter walk through the dreamy atmosphere of the Park takes place around the Dome, the Great Lawn, the Pine Grove, the Water Jets, and the Planted Roofs. This December, we discover together the light installations one by one, interact with them and experiment with the boundaries between light, motion, colors and sound.

Our route:

For our first stop, Jonas Vorwerk’s Light Holders creates a brand-new soundscape that electrifies the atmosphere at the Great Lawn. Together we enjoy the unique experience of a musical composition in loops in a stunning soundscape.

As we continue our walk towards the Water Jets, we see HALO, a work of multiple symbolisms. The work by Venividimultiplex consists of a ring radiating many delicate rays of light in various different lengths, drawing us into a play with light.

Immediately afterwards, the audiovisual installation Light Piano 2.0 by Arion de Munck and Mark Ridder at the Pine Grove offers an answer to the question: “How can music and image become one?” We will see how, playing the piano, we can create a new unique light composition.

Moving on towards the Dome, the work Submergence and its creators, Squidsoup, invite us to take part in an immersive experience. Thousands of individual light sources transform the space into a hybrid environment where virtual and natural worlds overlap.

Lastly, we walk along the path to the Lighthouse, privy to a special procession towards Pompe by George Nikas and Eleni Maragaki, where 120 light columns emerge from the Planted Roofs, inviting us to explore the relationship between nature and built space, human element and architecture, motion and stillness.

This year’s light installations, sourced from festive, magical places from all corners of the world, make up the fairy-tale Christmas scenery of the SNFCC and, starting on December 1, they invite us to interact with them in a unique, spectacular experience. We light them up and allow them to open doors to different worlds; we take pictures of them and with them!
