November is dedicated to the definitive symbol of the Greek land, the Olive, a tree that defines our cultural identity and forms the basis of the Mediterranean diet.

Once again, this November, SNFCC Members will have the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive experience of harvesting the fruit from the Park’s trees, learn about the olive pressing process, and participate in the production of olive oil by means of a small-scale olive press. They will partake in the immersive experience of olive tree protection and good management and connect with the traditions of the land and the art of cultivating it. At the end of the workshop, there will be a tasting of olive oil.

Design - Implementation:  Panagiotis Katsaris, Agronomist – Biotechnologist, head of Research and Development projects/programs, Panel Leader of the accredited olive oil tasting team of Kalamata ELGO “Dimitra” Institute of Olive, Subtropical Plants and Grapevine

Sotiris Tsekas, Agronomist, Landscape Manager at Stavros Niarchos Park

* Prior to the start of the process, participants’ footwear will be sterilized with a special solution, a process necessary to enter the plant beds of Stavros Niarchos Park. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center’s Park has approximately 400 olive trees, mainly of the Megara, Amfissa, Koroneiki and Kalamon varietals. Harvesting is done in the traditional way, without the use of mechanical equipment.
