TEDxElliottBayWomen invites you to participate in a global conversation on Saturday December 1, 2012.
TEDxElliottBayWomen invites you to join us at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art’s beautiful new auditorium to experience a morning of TEDx presentations by Bainbridge Island artists, comediennes, and writers, including the zestful Jen Breen, the extraordinary teen improv troupe Thumbs Up!, spiritual leader Kim Beyer Nelson, and PeaceTrees founder Jerilyn Brusseau, and to share an afternoon live simulcast of TEDxWomen from the US Institute for Peace. We will stream the last three sessions of the TEDxWomen conference -- The MIrror, Beginnings and Endings, and The Rising hosted by Eve Ensler.
The event is from 9-5 on Saturday December 1 and it is open to the public. Tickets include a full day of inspired and inspiring presentations, complimentary refreshments, lunch and a reception following the last session. Mothers and daughters may attend together on one shared ticket by contacting the organizer in advance.
(Remember to track back three hours from their published schedule to see what’s happening here during Pacific time.)
The theme for TEDxWomen 2012 is The Space Between, which brings forward conversations from our previous conferences -- how women are less likely to approach subjects from a black-or-white perspective…We are curious to explore what is in between extremes, to gain the big picture and find the areas where we need more understanding and perhaps compromise. Women know that this is where life happens -- the places in between.
In collaboration with TEDxWomen, TEDxElliottBayWomen, where x=independently organized TED event, is one of the many TEDx events happening around the globe on November 30 and December 1 that will engage with others who are participating in TEDxWomen. Hosted by Pat Mitchell,TEDxWomen is a TEDx event organized by the Paley Center for Media (NY) that focuses on women and women's issues. There are currently more than 80 events all around the world signed up to host a TEDxWomen event in their community, including events in Algeria, Brazil, China, South Korea and Uganda.
About TEDx: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
